News about the impending Blue Plaque being erected at Captain Jack Crocombe's house in Lynmouth appeared in the North Devon Journal newspaper on 27th May '10 under the banner "Film man steps in with plaque for Captain Jack", and in the West Somerset Free Press on 4th June '10 with "Film makers' eye on lifeboat launch", causing quite a stir with the "locals"!!

Whilst scouting Lynmouth for locations for our LOUISA feature film project, we discovered CAPTAIN JACK CROCOMBE’S original family home which is now a guest house called “The Captain’s House” located right by the East Lyn River.

We met the current owners:  Mr and Mrs A J Parker, The Captain’s House, 1 Tor Road, Lynmouth, Devon, EX35 6ET, 01598 753369, and expressed our surprise that the house of such a famous 1899 lifeboat hero had not been officially recognised with the erection of a suitable Blue Plaque fixed to the house.  They agreed with us, and said it would be an honour for them to display an appropriately inscribed plaque in Jack’s memory which of course would create huge interest for visitors to Lynton & Lynmouth on the beautiful and dramatic north coast of Devon.

We are currently seeking relevant planning and conservation approvals and agreeing the design and text of an appropriate blue plaque. We have sourced a manufacturer of cast aluminium signs who will prepare drawings of our concept and eventually manufacture the plaque.

Flat-Broke Films Ltd, and the “Clifford’s” will be financing the Plaque project, and we intend having an official unveiling ceremony with invited local officials, friends, business associates, RNLI representatives and the media, in due course.

Various articles about the film project and the proposed Plaque have already appeared in the North Devon Journal and the West Somerset Free Press creating quite a lot of local interest.

More news to follow soon.
