PROFILES OF THE CAST, CREW & COMPOSER

Maralyn Reynolds (Mary) was born in Reading in 1951 and after moving around the UK with her family, she finally settled in Exeter, Devon. Upon leaving school she took up amateur dramatics at the Barnfield Theatre in Exeter. On stage she appeared in many plays by Alan Ayckbourn, and Pantomimes; Old Time Music Halls; and many musicals. In 1972 she met and eventually married her fellow thespian – David Reynolds (Writer/Director/Producer of Waters End). Having moved to Cheltenham in 1979, they both joined The Playhouse Theatre Company and established great friendships with many acting friends- some of whom appear in Waters End.

Les Mason (Man at Churchyard). Les is almost a “full time” film extra and his most recent productions include Dr Who, Sahara, and Basic Instinct 2. He also sings in the Cotswold Male Voice Choir in his “spare time”. Appearing in Waters End was one of his first major talking parts and we think he did a splendid job.

Tim Green and Kevin Bennett (Compass Video) have been great friends of ours. We got to know them first when we use to film weddings around the Cotswolds. In fact in 2002 Kevin had said to David, “We would love to make a real film – can you come up with something?” One year later we started “working up” Waters End.

Lord Nigel Jones (Jones the Chauffeur)

Lord Nigel Jones of Cheltenham (Jones the Chauffeur) is a great friend of David & Maralyn and they thought, as he was retiring as Cheltenham’s MP in 2005 and was to become a Lord, wouldn’t it be fun if he played a “chauffeur” to a Lord!! Fortunately, he agreed and was available, but he had to drive the late 50s Alvis Sport Saloon which he renamed “The Beast” because of its lack of power-steering. He looked splendid in his smart suit and black peaked cap. You can read about his location filming experiences in his funny story “I need a bigger trailer……..!!” by clicking “Jones”.

Composer – Lee Axford

Lee (pictured rear centre) is a very talented young man who lives in Cheltenham, where he had attended Dean Close School and left to become a professional composer. He is an excellent pianist and organist and has written many compositions for classical musicians. The Waters End original music was inspired by the Gustav Holst folklore composition “I love my love”, which David & Maralyn thought captured the sentimental storyline. Lee has interpreted the “Mood of Waters End” perfectly!
