TRAIN OF THOUGHT
A local steam train heads off into the Cotswolds - will it arrive on time?
It’s amazing how film ideas develop. I said to Maralyn that we really ought to film another project on the GWR railway as they had been so kind to us whilst producing Waters End. I had a title “Train of Thought” annoyingly wandering around my head, but no story to go with it. However, we were on holidays down in Devon, when one morning Maralyn yelled, “I’ve got an idea for your title! Supposing some train passengers were stuck in a stationary train halted at a red signal.
We go into “their heads” and hear what the long delay means to each of them”. From that the “Train of Thought” screenplay has emerged, and is still being refined.
SEEING IS BELIEVING
The churchyard in Prestbury - one of Britain's most haunted villages.
With the success of “Waters End” we wanted to try out a modern ghost story idea which would be set completely in a Cotswold village. Further encouragement came from the Gloucestershire Media Group who asked all members to film a special project “live” on Halloween night around Prestbury Parish Churchyard, where the closing shots of Waters End had been set.
Unfortunately we were on holiday, but it gave us an idea to write our second short film which we thought should be set in Prestbury. Researching the book “The Haunted Cotswolds” and visiting some of the quiet leafy streets around The Burgage area of Prestbury, a germ of story idea came to David and Maralyn involving the sale of a house. Like all screenplay writing many ideas were discussed, amended, scrapped, rewritten and after a few months “Seeing is Believing” emerged as a possible screenplay.
Here is the synopsis: “In a Cotswold village an Estate Agent lets a couple of potential buyers look around a house on their own; after sometime they have not reappeared; he calls out their names-but no reply; they have apparently vanished …………… ??”
Currently the screenplay is being developed and the locations/finance secured. Our original actors from “Waters End” all want to be involved and a video production company from Gloucester: Cordial MT led by Tim Pellatt www.cordialmediatraining.co.uk have offered to supply all the filming equipment and crew to make the project happen which we hope will be sometime during 2009.
